Atouk is perhaps one of the most unusual mechwarriors in the Inner Sphere. He was born on a nameless planet in the deep periphery. The original colonists of this planet had descended to a technological level on par with the Stone Age of ancient Terra and had virtually no knowledge of the universe around them. When a Comstar Explorer Corps mission reached the planet, the natives treated them as gods. A juvenile Atouk was entranced by these god-like men and their machines, and he became something of a loveable mascot for the Comstar personnel. On a lark, they let him try operating an IndustrialMech only to find that he seemed to have a natural gift for piloting Mechs. When they left his planet, they took Atouk with them and began to train him as a true mechwarrior.

When most of his mentors joined the Word of Blake, Atouk followed without much thought. However at the onset of the Jihad, all of his friends were killed in a bloody purge when some of them began to question their orders. Atouk was left for dead, but managed to survive. When Jacob Hawker discovered him, he was performing for a Mech circus act on Galatea. When Hawker told him that he would get a chance to give some payback to the Blakists, he jumped at the opportunity.

Atouk has come a long way from his humble origins, but he is still a caveman at heart. He shuns most clothing, speaks simply with a heavy accent, and is generally quite naive about the size and scope of the world he lives in. His interests largely revolve around the people he is with, clearly a surrogate for the “tribe.” This seems to makes him a good fit for the close-knit familial Monkeys.
