Several years ago, Cal Young was considered a hot prospect on Solaris VII. The Sirian native earned a coveted spot on the roster of Bromley stables. Then the drinking started and it all went downhill from there. His career floundered and he ultimately lost everything. After a couple of years of roving, he ended up homeless, begging for money, on Galatea. It was a terrific coincidence that Young just happened to choose a street corner across from Jacob Hawker’s office and that Hawker in fact recognized him.

Realizing the young man’s talent, Hawker paid for his rehab on the condition that he join the Flaming Devil Monkeys. Although his rehab has been completed, Young is still rusty from years of neglect. The Monkeys are keeping a close eye on him to make sure he doesn’t fall off the wagon again.

In his very first action on Tohelet, Cal Young piloted one of the Monkeys’ salvaged Penetrators. After the battle, as a result of some organizational reshuffling, he ended up with Lt. Bishop’s Black Hawk KU and she took over the controls of his Penetrator.

Unfortunately, Whiskey never got a chance to redeem his career. On Kalidasa, he was knocked unconscious due to a bad landing during the assault drop and a Wobbie Lightray destroyed his cockpit as he lay helpless.
