Henrik Schwartz’s difficulties are an all too common story for Dropship captains. When his Leopard-class Dropship needed expensive repair work, he was forced to take out a loan against the ship to complete the work. The work extended longer than he expected, causing him to miss contract work that would help his balance sheet. His unpaid crew left one-by-one and he was left in dire straits. That is when Jacob Hawker showed up offering to buy him out, but keep him on as captain. Seeing no other options, Schwartz agreed.

At least that is the official story. We happen to know that Henrik Schwartz’s real name is Bart Grau and that he was a dropship captain for the infamous, though now entirely dead, Black Warriors of the Circinus Federation. When the Warriors fled the Federation, Grau was part of their decoy plan. When he doubled back to rendevous with the main force, all he found was their shattered remains floating in deep space. Fearing that he was next, he fled to Galatea, where he adopted the alias Henrik Schwartz. From there, the rest of his story is largely true. We believe the CO, XO, and perhaps a few others are aware of Schwartz’s true identity, but have decided to play along with his charade for the time being.

Schwartz has become paranoid that the Word of Blake is after him. He often wakes in the night from vivid nightmares. Although Schwartz himself is a veteran captain, he was forced to hire on an entirely new crew and so we have downgraded our rating of the dropship’s capabilities appropriately.
