Konrad James is the younger brother of Beatrix James. Unlike his sister, he accepted the re-unification of St. Ives and the Capellan Confederation and was able to earn entrance into the St. Ives Academy of Martial Sciences. Their different political orientation had caused a split between the once-close siblings, but when Konrad heard of his sister’s heroic death, he immediately withdrew from his third year at SIAMS and set out in search of the Flaming Devil Monkeys. He found them on Solaris VII where he asked to be allowed to take Beatrix’s place on the roster. Commander Bane was initially hesitant, but relented after James demonstrated that, like his sister, he was a very skilled mechwarrior for his young age.
