Born on Tall Trees, Mbeki suffered much abuse from his pro-Capellan countrymen for joining the AFFC. Unfortunately, just as he was nearing graduation from the Tikonov School of Military Discipline, Operation Guerrero left his homeworld devastated and abandoned by both the Capellans and Davions. Feeling betrayed, Mbeki left the AFFC. He served briefly as a mercenary with Wannamaker’s Widowmakers, but eventually came to Solaris VII.
Mbeki was a familiar sight on the Solaris Heavy circuits in the sixties. After losing to Taharqa Bane in the hard fought 3063 heavy class championship match, the two developed a grudging respect for one another that eventually blossomed into a strong friendship. In 3065, they started up their own stable as partners, and when Taharqa confided in Tsepo his desire to leave the game world, Mbeki gave Bane his full support. Mbeki was the obvious choice for XO.
The frequent ups and downs of his own life have left Mbeki with an almost zen-like calmness and reflectiveness that other members of the unit find reassuring. As the XO, he provides a nice counterbalance to Bane’s aggressive and gregarious nature.
