Xen grew up on the streets of Betelgeuse in the Capellan Confederation. Imprisoned at a young age for grand theft, he was denied citizenship status. While in prison, he made connections with a group of outlaws and pirates known as Jameson’s Gang. Eventually, he was released from prison at the age of sixteen. He quickly abandoned his post in the Servitor caste and connected with members of the Jameson Gang in the Chaos March. Under their tutelage, he learned how to operate a battlemech and joined the Gang on several daring expoits against his former nation and other planets in the Chaos March. However, the ruthlessness of the Jameson Gang eventually proved too much for him and he fled the gang. He went to Outreach where he sought employment with a legitimate mercenary group. He found Braga’s Buzzing Bees and quickly joined up. When the Bees fell on hard times during the FedCom Civil War, they merged with the Monkeys.

Xen is the most street smart member of the Flaming Devil Monkeys and still has many connections (and many enemies) in the underworld. He has tried to make peace with his turbulent past and hopes that he can do some good in the future to redeem himself.

Xen’s callsign has undergone some evolution. It was originally “X-man” in reference to his alliterative name, but was shortened to “X” over time. After his actions on Tohelet where he decapitated an Axman in melee and put his hatchet into the gyro of an Awesome, the other Monkeys started calling him “Axe” and the nickname has stuck. Ironically, he decapitated the Axman with a kick from above rather than with his hatchet.
