Desiree Sheikh doesn’t know exactly where she is from or who her parents are. Orphaned at an early age, she was brought to Outreach by some mercenary who developed an unusual case of compassion. She was left in the care of an orphanage and never learned who her savior was, besides his last name of “Sheikh.” She absorbed mercenary culture living on Outreach, and was able to enter the Outreach Training Academy on a scholarship. After graduating, she found a spot on Braga’s Buzzing Bees, only to be quickly thrust into the horrors of the FedCom Civil War. She lost many friends but she managed to survive.

Sheikh’s nickname is intended to be ironic. She is anything but “sweet.” The harsh realities of warfare that she has experienced over the last several years have led her to be quite tempermental. She is known to fly off the handle over fairly minor issues. Braga hopes he can direct some of this anger more effectively into her piloting.

During the action against the Word of Blake on Dieron, Sheikh’s Spector was downed behind enemy lines. For six years, her whereabouts were unknown but she was assumed to be in the custody of the Word of Blake or dead.

The Monkeys finally tracked Shiekh down on Dieron where she was operating as part of the 42nd Shadow Division. She had been re-conditioned as a Manei Domini. The Monkeys were able to disable her mech and capture her before driving off the remaining Wobbies.

After extensive de-programming and a careful examination for explosives in her cybernetic systems by Dr. Yakima, Sheikh was allowed back into the Monkeys. She convinced Taharqa to activate several celestial designs the monkeys had salvaged over the years to create a special c3i unit that Sheikh would use to take the fight back to those who abused her.
