Not much is known about Kati Wilhelm’s past aside from her Lyran origins, and she rarely offers any information. She has been with the Monkeys since the beginning on Solaris VII, where she was apparently romantically involved with Bane for a brief time. Initially, she was charged with training a recon squad. That recon squad has now grown into a full-fledged platoon.

The scuttlebutt among the monkeys is that she is a disgruntled former Loki operative. There is little disputing the disgruntled part. Wilhelm goes about her work as if she is perpetually angry at the world and everyone in it. She can be a tyrant with her own platoon but is also fiercely loyal to them. Despite her rough treatment, they seem to return this fierce loyalty.

Wilhelm certainly has the skills to be a Loki operative. She is an expert in stealth, demolitions, poisoning, sensor operations, and free fall insertion. She is also a black-belt martial artist, deadly knife fighter, and an elite marksman. She routinely drills the Ghost Monkeys in all of these skills and so they have also become proficient in many of these areas. Currently, she is lobbying Bane to use the Ghost Monkeys for more direct covert operations in addition to their duties as a recon unit.

Wilhelm has a somewhat difficult relationship with Captain Felix Lee. She feels that the Ghost Monkeys are a class apart from the “rent-a-cops” that make up the rest of the infantry support company, and resents taking orders from someone newer to the Monkeys than herself. This attitude has created something of a fierce rivalry between the Ghosts and the Guards.
