In 3065, Tomokazu Miazu came out of nowhere to wow the crowds of Solaris VII. He looked every bit the perfect samurai in his appearance, equipment, and demeanor and the Kurita fans ate it up. To top it off, he was a pretty decent mechwarrior. He was taken on by the Silver Dragon stable and mentored by the famed Tokichiro “Bushido” Besa. In two years, he had established a very solid record and looked like an up and coming star. Then, on the eve of the Jihad, it all came crashing down. An investigative journalist discovered that Tomokazu Miura was actually Thomas Miura from the Lyran planet of New Kyoto. He was just the suburban middle-class kid of a corporate bureaucrat who was deeply obsessed with samurai culture. Kurita fans called for blood and Miura was kicked out of the Silver Dragons.

The Jihad brought other concerns to the forefront and Miura volunteered his services to the SHDL when Solaris was invaded by the wobbies. Without access to a Mech, he served as an infantry grunt and developed skill and recognition as an effective commando. With the liberation of Solaris, he decided he would try to resurrect his career as a mechwarrior. His former mentor, Tokichiro Besa, had fallen in combat during the final days of the struggle while working with the Flaming Devil Monkeys. Having nowhere else to turn, Miura offered his services to the Monkeys on behalf of his beloved sensei.

Miura still sees himself as a true samurai, even though not one from House Kurita. There is some tension between Miura and Taro Olafsen. Olafsen thinks that Miura is a fraud, while Miura thinks that Olafsen and his family have dishonored their house by disobeying their true lord. They have fought several “practice” duels with wooden katanas with little resolution, except for extensive bruises and sprained appendages.
